Working & Living in Edinburgh

Working and Living in Edinburgh

One of Edinburgh's greatest advantages is its compact size. Many of the city's most popular visitor attractions and major employers are within 20 minutes' walk of the centre.
Whilst Edinburgh is a cosmopolitan European capital city, it is also extremely easy to get about. It is clean, safe and green with large areas of parks and gardens to explore, including Princes Street Gardens, Royal Botanical Gardens and Holyrood Park.

Transport

Edinburgh is located in southeast Scotland, and is less than one hour by air, and four hours by train from London. It also has good connections to all the other major European capitals. The city serves as the gateway to the rest of Scotland, and is well connected by public transport to all parts of the country. Edinburgh's Waverley train station is located in the city centre, at the east end of Princes Street. It has direct or connecting trains to all parts of Scotland and the rest of the UK. There are frequent services to Glasgow and to other cities including Aberdeen, Dundee, Fife, Glasgow and Perth.

Entertainment

Edinburgh offers a wealth of entertainment, with live theatre and a wonderful selection of cinemas, bars and restaurants, featuring live entertainment. As a university town, Edinburgh offers an array of clubs and there is, of course, the annual and iconic Edinburgh Festival!

All in all, there’s little wonder that Edinburgh has won ten major Best City awards in the last six years, and has been voted one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Edinburgh is cultural, diverse and vibrant. The capital's population is around 460,000, but the figure swells to well over one million during its famous festival held in August every year.

Edinburgh has recently been voted the most desirable city to live in the UK. To view the full article please see the document below.
